The ultimate flex of our interior design skills

Office Envy has been operating since 1996. Formerly known as Business Supplies (North Wales) Ltd, the majority of this time has been based in the Deeside space we still occupy. A lot has changed since our humble beginnings and the same can now be said for our workplace, following a dazzling refurbishment. Director, Trudy has the creative vision to transform any space into a practical and beautiful working area… Here we share our interior design journey.

Trudy took on the entire ground floor of this unassuming industrial estate building, with the hope of creating an inspiring destination for our team and customers alike. Somewhere to demonstrate what Office Envy can do; a showroom to showcase our favourite pieces and flex our smart interior design skills. The office was looking quite tired and dark. Stud walls had been continually added over the years and the floorplan had become disjointed and somewhat maze-like. Safe to say, the purple dungeon was ready for a revamp!

Trudy’s creative vision was finalised and we started the extensive renovations to Office Envy HQ. We are used to commercial fit-outs so got to work – walls were knocked down, utilities moved, worn carpets ripped out. All was going smoothly to plan… until Covid-19 hit. Lockdown resulted in the refurbishment work coming to an abrupt halt. As we all learnt how to embrace the ‘new normal’ and juggle working from home, it suddenly seemed like the worst time to be investing in a beautiful workplace and showroom destination.

However, slowly but surely we have got there… and never been happier following our interior design leap. The space has transformed the way we work for the better. The open plan design means we work collaboratively but eco-friendly acoustic solutions mean noise is kept to a minimum. The well-equipped kitchen and break-out area has made healthy lunchtimes a breeze plus the ‘magic tap’ (endearingly named by staff) has filtered chilled, hot or even sparkling water for speedy hydration. Sit-stand desks (available to buy here) and ergonomic chairs of dreams (also on our online shop) mean staff are always working ergonomically to prevent any aches developing and going home with them. Plus the previous lack of meeting spaces has been well and truly addressed, with a beautiful, glass-fronted meeting room, bar area and soft seating.

Our renovation highlights

Kitchen & Dining Area

A Sit-stand desk seating area with a wooden top is an ideal spot to have a break. Suspended branches, foliage and lights are a mood-boosting touch to the area.

The slate fronted kitchen has all the appliances you could wish for.. plus colour changing LED lights for added drama. Ready for showroom events and staff parties.

We ensure we have beverages and a stock of porridge and jacket potatoes for all to use if they missed breakfast or want to grab lunch and chat. It makes for an easy space to work effectively, and importantly, together.

Meeting Room


The glass partition wall with warming oak surround; helped create a light and open space. We intentionally continued the geometric carpet into the room to aid the flow of the open-plan layout.

A large collaborative table, smart TV for presentations, acoustic wood effect beams and climbing plants ensure a practical yet calming space to collaborate.


Eco Flooring

Carbon neutral carpet tiles from Interface, are surprisingly luxurious and made from recycled materials. Trudy was inspired by the stock of spare carpet tiles acquired from our fit-outs over the years and designed the striking zig-zag pattern that greets visitors. Natural tones, finishes and textures have been utilised to soften and tie in other organic elements to the space.

The zone definition is aided by the smart use of flooring. We transitioned into a cleaner, large, checkerboard design for our desk area and the kitchen seamlessly blends into colour matched vinyl tiles, for a durable and easy to clean area.



Work Pods

We love working in our open office area! We have managed to make the area light and airy even with small amounts of natural light. Glass sneeze screens are nearly unnoticeable and make socially distancing easy.

Sit-stand desks and great quality ergonomic chairs from Hood Seating are a must! (That’s why we sell them on our online shop here.)

Suspended acoustic solutions from Allsfär are made from up-cycled plastic bottles and are hypoallergenic. Trudy matched the iconic Office Envy green from their wide range of colours, for the baffles residing above the desk pods. Great at reducing noise and adding a pop of colour

After discussing with other industry leaders, we are finding more and more need to create workspaces with joy and wellness at their heart. From a basic level, being in a lovely and ergonomically designed space lifts the mood and productivity. It demonstrates that you as an employer care and are here for the long run. No longer can businesses offer the same old environment. It’s all about human experience and bringing the workforce back with passion instead of compliance!
